Weenie Man - 19

Very sad to learn of the death of our classmate Steve “Weenie” Belcher. Weenie Man was a great basketball player for the Bulldogs and was a great teammate. At a slim 6-4, he had to go against the likes of Calvin Crews, Tic Price, Sherman Dillard, Wilbur Preston, James Jackson, Kenny Joyce and Ed Martin. He more than held his own. Weenie worked hard at it. I think he wore ankle weights to school all day, and would warm up for practice by jumping and touching the rim a bunch of times with both hands, still wearing those weights. He was one of the best.
