Jim McMillian Obituary - 18
03/13/24     Matt Powell  (1973)      beach4ever54@gmail.com
James Douglas “Jim” McMillian, 68, of Collinsville, Virginia, will be spending this new year and forevermore with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, in Heaven. After an 18 month long battle with multiple myeloma, Jim stepped into his eternal home on Saturday, December 30, 2023.

He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Regina; daughters, Joanna Schwartz (Ryan) and Amanda Fenson (Alex); precious grandchildren, Daniel, Isabella, Abe, Abby and Allison; mother, Janet McMillian; sister, Lou Ann Neely (Chuck) and brothers, Rod, Mark (Wanda), Phil (Gina), and Andrew (Debbie) along with several nieces, nephews and lifelong friends. He was preceded in death by his father, James G. McMillian.

Jim graduated from Martinsville High School in 1973 and Danville Community College in 1977 with a degree in data processing. He worked as a computer programmer until retiring in 2014. He also obtained his Class A Contractor’s license and lovingly built two of the homes his family lived in. Jim served as a volunteer EMT with the Fieldale-Collinsville Rescue Squad. He served as the Collinsville representative on the Henry County Board of Supervisors from 2006 through 2009. He was a member of Thomas Road Baptist Church in Lynchburg, VA.

The words integrity, honesty, and compassion best describe Jim. He will be honored at a memorial service on Tuesday, January 2nd at 2:00 at Norris Funeral Home in Martinsville. Reverend Doug Ramsey will officiate. Visitation will precede the service from 12 noon to 2:00. In lieu of flowers, the family requests consideration for donations to Blue Ridge Cancer Care Research Institute, 2013 South Jefferson Street, Roanoke, VA in hopes that a cure can soon be found for multiple myeloma.
