Death of Classmate, Terry Barnes - 16

Terrell “Terry” Ray Barnes, 69, devoted husband, father and grandfather passed away on Friday, February 5, 2021.

Born in Martinsville, VA on February 26, 1951, he was a son of the late Leonard and Ninner Bradley Barnes and was also preceded in death by a brother, Roger Barnes, Sr. and his mother and father-in-law, Edith and William Gilliland.

Terry was a US Army veteran; was retired from American Hoffman and was a member of Chestnut Hill Baptist Church. He volunteered with the Lynchburg Baptist disaster relief team and also the American Red Cross. Terry was a kind, loving and patient man, who never meet a stranger, and loved his country.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Nancy Gilliland Barnes; a daughter Megan Barnes and her fiancée, Alex Prudhoe; grandchildren, Iyla Ferguson, Edith “Edy” Ferguson; Benjamin and Amy Ferguson, Lucy Ferguson; a sister, Rebecca Lacy and her husband, Dan; brother, Donnie Barnes; a sister-in-law, Peggy Barnes and many, many other loving family members.

A memorial service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at Chestnut Hill Baptist Church by the Rev. Ian McManamey and Rev. Randy Bower.
