Class of 1956 Member's Obit-Burton Grogan - 3

Frank Burton Grogan, age 76, of Fieldale, passed away September 18, 2014, at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville/HC.
He was born June 27, 1938, in Martinsville, to the late Roy C. Grogan and the late Liberty Overby Dix.
Burton was a graduate of Martinsville High School, Class of 1956, and a U.S. Air Force Veteran. He was a line crew supervisor with 34 years of service at Appalachian Power Company, and was a member of Broad Street Christian Church. Burton was a very devoted family man, loved the outdoors, and was an avid golfer.
He is survived by his beloved spouse of 50 years, Kaye Grogan of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon Grogan-Hooker and husband Jeff Hooker of Bassett, Kelli Grogan and husband Jeff Groseclose of Radford; one sister, Erma Lou Gunter of Dobson, N.C., five grandchildren, Wesley T. and wife Heather Joyce of Austin, Texas, Joshua E. Napier of Mooresville, N.C., Amanda D. Joyce of Radford, Jordan Kay Hooker, and Shellee Frances Hooker of Bassett. Also his special Siamese cat “Lexi.”
The graveside service will be Monday, Sept. 22, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. in Roselawn Burial Park with Rev. J.D. Harmon officiating. Graveside Military Honors will be rendered by the Martinsville Henry County Veterans Honor Guard. The Veterans Honor Guard will serve as active pallbearers, and the sons-in- law and grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Burton may be made to, Feed The Children, P.O. Box 36, Oklahoma City, Okla. 73101-0036.
