Mr. Howard Smith Jr., age 76, of 911 Tulloch St. Eden, passed away Wednesday afternoon, August 27, 2014 at The Hospice Home of Rockingham County.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 1, 2014 at Ridge-View Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Smith was born in Martinsville, Virginia on July 26, 1938, a son of Howard Lee Smith, Sr. and Euna Frazier Smith, both deceased. He was a retired truck driver with Goldston Trucking Company. He was a Master Mason, member of Leaksville Lodge #136, and a veteran of the US Army. He was an avid golfer, a loving husband, father, Papa and friend.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Derrick D. Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Laura Kidd Smith of the home; his children, Vicki Cruise and husband David of Greensboro, Howard Lee Smith, III “Rusty” and wife Gail if Eden, Michelle Smith and husband Avery of Maryland; his niece, Lisa Hill and husband Greg of Eden; his nephews, Jerry Deatherage of Bassett, Virginia, Paul Pulliam of Reidsville; seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and many special friends.
The family will receive friends at the residence.
