Memories - 14
06/11/12     Debby Davis Gagliano  (1967)      DebbyGagliano@hotmail.com
Sitting in a corner booth with my family on a Sunday evening at the Lavender House or the Hut Restaurant in Collinsville..watching the Christmas parade on Main Street (opposite Globman's) from the bed of Daddy's pickup the Saturday after Thanksgiving..learning that I was the unlucky one who had to wear Butch's graduation gown because mine was missing and he had only recently died...the excitement of Sidney's opening up a store downtown..picnics at Fairystone in the summer..being able to walk safely from Jefferson Circle to any store in town without anyone bothering me..babysitting for Dr. Tavss and Dr. French..eating a hamburger at Ayers when it was still a streetcar...remembering where I was standing when Mama told me Andy had been killed..buying a Chess Pie at Wampler's fountain...Miss Anthony's "overdue book" announcements during assembly (no mike required!)...none of us can explain any of this "stuff" to someone who didn't share those moments with us...each had its own sensations and smells and will never be repeated..I miss these elements when I come back "home" because so much has changed, even me & I'm reminded often of the distance between M'ville and PA when someone says "you talk funny, where are you from"! I wonder what memories we share. I hope everyone will be able to come in July because we know that some of us have already left too soon...let's make some new memories..we've all left behind that innocence that comes from growing up in a small Southern town in the 50's and 60's watched over by everyone else's Mama..we've all had loss and sadness and it's time for some HAPPY!!!!! Best to all...Debby Davis Gagliano

Re: Memories
Well I think you covered the best of the best memories. I can only add one for me -- those little ham biscuits and a coke at one of the only 4 stools at Fagg's Drugstore on the corner. Hope you enjoy your reunion.

Re: Memories
Debby, I applaud you for this beautifully written message! I hope that all of our Classmates will read this, and remember not only the Happy times we shared together, But also the Sad times we were able to comfort each other when we needed it most.
Much love to you!

Re: Memories
Good job Debby. I'm looking forward to seeing you on the 28th, but really? PA is its own weird planet. I visit every week and always wipe my shoes.
