Re: Frances Milstead - business teacher at Mavahi |
Thanks, Betty for informing us of this. I'm in the class of '62 and trying to encourage our 'mates to use this website, with little success. I took the liberty of copy and pasting your message in an email to my class about Frances.

Re: Frances Milstead - business teacher at Mavahi |
I am sorry to inform everyone that Mrs. Milstead past away last night at the Stanleytown health care center. She is at Collins-McKee-Stone funeral home on Broad St. The funeral services will be @ 11:00AM Saturday at First Babtist Church 23 Starling Ave. Martinsville. My heart felt condolences to "Pinky". She was my 5th and 6th grade teacher and also taught me in 8th grade typing. A great teach and listener. Ready to help. She will be missed. |

Re: Frances Milstead - business teacher at Mavahi |
I was sad to hear about Mrs. Milstead. To this day, I can hear the pecking/slapping sounds of 25 Royals and Underwood typewriters; springs and screws mysterously popping off during a speed test; ribbons jamming, and fingers covered in red and black ink. I credit her with my typing ability during my service in the Navy as a radioman and the fact that I am able to post this message. God Bless you Frances........

Re: Frances Milstead - business teacher at Mavahi |
I was so sorry to learn of Mrs. Milstead's passing this week. I also was a student of hers in typing and bookkeeping classes, which I took just for the heck of it. Joel Kolodney and I were in constant competition with each in bookkeeping. Mrs. Milstead was a fantastic teacher, and thanks to her I taught typing in one of my "past jobs" and am now doing corporate and pharmaceutical transcription. Hope all of you in the Class of 1964 are well and happy! |
