Visit to Martinsville - 11
11/20/03     JERRY POFF  (1964)      JDPOFF@CHARTER.NET
I was in Martinsville over the weekend for small family reunion. I still enjoy being greeted by the dam and spillover on the southside at the Smith River. Of course, you know of the many improvements that have been made on the Northside at the old Liberty Heights area. And , as I drove to the Beverly Nursing Home on Spruce Street to visit my mother, I passed many of the streets where many of you lived in 1964. The city appears to be neat and clean. Downtown doesn,t have Globman,s, Legget,s, Sidney,s, McCollum-Ferrell, Rose,s, Eagle 5 and 10, Kerfert,s (sp) etc. Sat.s aren,t quite as busy downtown. Well we did played golf on Sat.and drove back to Georgia early Sun. (4:30am ) to miss the traffic. Hope all are well. Jerry

Re: Visit to Martinsville
Hello Jerry,
I am George Allison, class of 65. I think that we worked together in 65 or 66 at Sales knitting as quality control for Louis Lopez. Am I correct?
Things have really changed on the North side.
Hope to hear from you.
Have a wonderful holiday.

Re: Visit to Martinsville
George, I do remember you, and yes I did work at Sales several summers. I was in a sewing room as material handler. I also took loaded carts up to the second floor. Wasn't Alvin Weaver a friend we had in common. Jerry

Re: Visit to Martinsville
Yes, Alvin was a friend. He lived beside Larry Dillon on Figsboro Rd. Have not heard from him in a while. Hope all is well with you and your family. Have a very Merry
Christmas.
