Well Done - Class of 1964 - 11
10/12/14     The Class of 64  (1964)
For all of you who traveled from near and far, well done. Our 50th reunion was a very exciting event. We honored those who couldn't be there and charished the memories of those who have departed. We talked endlessly about cherished memories and constantly uttered the phrase, "do you remember when." We caught up on special events, children, grandchildren and even great grandchildren. We laughed, danced, and reminiced about the smallest of things.
We were graced with the presence of Coach Husky Hall on Friday night. Two of our classmates paid their respects to Coach J.B. Heldreth at a local convelescent home. Coach Heldreth is recoveing from a fall. He was greatful for the visit.
The familure vocies of our classmates filled the event with sounds once heard fifty yars ago as if in we were still sitting in the cafeteria eating meatloaf or grilled cheese sandwhiches. There were no wallflowers at this gahtering. we were togehter again, sharing hugs, handshakes, and kisses all around.
The memoribilia table was a sensation.
There were letter sweaters, bottles of familiar fragrences, musical instruments,a football jersey, band hat, copies of the Barker, old photos, a Studebaker hood ornament, a classring, yearbooks, graduation tassels, old schedules,a student handbook, an old campaign poster of JFK, a Patterson's Drug Store menue, and much much more. It was a Marty McFly moment in time.
Thank all of you for a great reunion.

Re: Well Done - Class of 1964
I would like to extend a sincere thank you to all that worked so very hard to make the reunion so very successful. What a wonderful blessing to chat with and share good times with so many friends from my early years. Though I have been away from Martinsville for so very long, it is still HOME and everyone at the reunion helped solidify my strong ties to Martinsville. Thanks to all.

I had the opportunity to stop by the Elks Lodge to drop off something for the catering crew and was extremely impressed with the classy set up of '64's reunion. The Elks Lodge was decorated very nice and MAVAHI Proud! There were a lot of nice touches. Corsages for the ladies, excellent memorabilia displays along with a really touching memorial tribute to the Casualties of the Viet Nam War. Congratulations '64 on 50 years of "Bulldog Pride" . See you all at 'ole Dawgs' 10 October 2015
